After a wonderful trip to spend time with Baby Boy’s Mama, I have been asked “what’s next?”
Since Baby Boy is due in just a little over 4 weeks the pressure is on to tie up all the lose ends. (This phase of paperwork and preparation usually happens all before you match with a baby, but the everything has been unconventional with this time around)
So, we will continue the paperwork, interviews and home preparation working through the checklist, but I would be lying if I didn’t tell you one of those task has been more stressful than the others, and that’s the conversations around money.
Before with our adoption process, we saved for years, had a roadmap, and agency that helped prepare us for what we could expect.
This time our journey has been unexpected and we have been making it work as we go, but there is a ways to go and we want to make sure we aren’t cutting any corners.
So, with the encouragement of our family and friends we have decided to do a fundraiser again, just as we did with Zadie Ann.
The funds raised will go towards our home study, legal representation in both states (we have hired a lawyer for us and one for Mama), Birth Mama expenses for before and after birth (counseling, rent, food, transportation, prenatal care, medical expenses - our lawyers handle this disbursement so funds raised go to them).
It is critical to us that we do what is right by Baby Boy’s mama and make sure she is taken care of in every way.
Our fundraiser
With family and friends all over the country, we have opted to start with a simple but meaningful fundraiser, "Sponsor a Number” like we did with Zadie Ann. This time instead of numbered tags, each number is on a puzzle piece and when they have all been claimed it will complete the puzzle which will be displayed in baby boy’s room!
You simply choose a number 1-175, represented by a puzzle piece and then donate that amount. Example, puzzle piece #7 is $7 and puzzle piece 134 is $134.
Upon donating that amount, we would love for you to leave a scripture, quote or well wish before you submit. Just as we did with Zadie Ann, we will be creating a book to forever be in the nursery and as part of his story. We want him to know see just how many people came together to be a “piece” of his story.
